The early story is a history! This part of tutorials are the story of the .NET Framework as a whole. It is general information on the .NET Framework where at the time when this file was uploaded, the version is 3.5. The previous versions are 1.0.x, 1.1.x and 2.0.x that are not so matured yet. Here you also will learn what are the managed code, unmanaged code and the managed code introduction to the Visual C++ compiler through the Managed Extension of C++ that extend the C++ functionalities into the .NET. There first two parts are the step-by-step on the building, compiling and running your first C++ .NET codes using Visual C++ .NET 2003 and Visual C++ .NET 2005 Express Edition respectively. Though those are just a very simple codes, it will give you a very early impression on the difference between the old and new managed C++. After the review of the .NET framework you will start learning the details of the early stage of the .NET and how it is implemented or incorporated into the Visual C++ .NET 2003. It quite a long story. If you totally new, at the beginning there are tutorial on how to install and use Visual C++ .NET 2003, Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition and Visual C++ from Visual Studio 2005. For every version you will learn step-by-step on how to build and run your first Console Mode Application.
